With 80+ color, full page photographic plates, the book re-captures the unique and enticing motels that once beckoned to weary travelers, their signs hinting at exotic desert fantasies and imaginary Western themes. The fabulous and intense Southwestern light and color define the book's architectural subjects, many of them have since been bull-dozed. The post WWII travel boom produced these icons that are now bypassed by the newer Interstate Highway system and it's drab, cookie-cutter motels.
